The Tower of Babel

Theatre performance of Kagels vocal piece Der Turm zu Babel / The Tower of Babel combined with the choirs of Meredith Monk in the rooms of the medieval art exhibition. Der Turm zu Babel song cycle is a masterful depiction of the Old Testament passage in seventeen languages variations. Constant allusions to the cultural and social mannerisms of individual nations are balancing on the edge between naïveté and refinement, kitsch and sophisticated music.
