The production Humanity / Mankind draws on 15th-century morality plays. It combines the text of the play Mankind with the period work Everyman. This site-specific project is conceived for a Gothic sacred building, whose architecture interweaves visual art, period music, and drama. In the Middle Ages, art within the church was meant to speak to a broad spectrum of people. Humanity is about a person who fears the approaching Death. This death does not have to mean only physical demise, but also spiritual or mental fading or rupture. For some, salvation lies in sacred confession; for others, confession takes the form of a professional therapeutic conversation. The project emerges as a response to the current situation, in which people have begun to experience intense inner unrest, fear, and uncertainty, and the topic of mental health awareness has become more relevant than ever before.
